What is the Prime Minister’s Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana ?
This scheme has been named as “ Pradhanmantri Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana ” by expanding the “ Mukhyamantri Solar Pump Yojana ” inside the Council of Ministers meeting by Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav ji on 14 March 2024 in Bhopal state of Madhya Pradesh.
Under this scheme, agricultural pump connections will be provided to farmers. To run this scheme successfully and to provide the benefits of this scheme to maximum number of farmers, a budget of Rs. 24 thousand 293 crores has been set under this scheme.
This scheme will be run by the Energy Department of Madhya Pradesh on the basis of guidelines issued by the Kusum ‘B’ scheme of the Central Government.
Objectives Surya Scheme
Pradhan Mantri Krishak Mitra Surya Yojana has been started mainly to provide water facilities to the farmers in the state in view of the problem of water for agriculture and to provide water facilities in the drought affected areas of the state. Under this scheme, the Madhya Pradesh government will provide agricultural pump connections to the farmers through which the farmers will not have water problems and water for irrigation and drinking water will be provided to the population living in the drought affected areas of the state.

Districts covered under this Surya Scheme
This scheme has been started to provide benefits to agriculture and agriculture related groups at the main gate and to provide water for irrigation in the drought affected areas of the state. This scheme has been started in Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, Niwari, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Datia of Bundelkhand region and Vidisha, Shivpuri, Raisen districts of Betwa basin.
In these districts, a total of 6,57,364 hectares of dry area will be provided irrigation facility and drinking water facility will be provided to approximately 44 lakh population living in these areas by the government.
