To start this scheme inside India, the Central Government discussed the launch of this scheme in the Union Cabinet meeting of 28 September 2021 and approved the launch of this scheme on 29 September 2021.
What is the Prime Minister’s Nutrition Power Creation Scheme?
This scheme has been started by the central government. Through this scheme, children in the state who are malnourished and do not get tasty nutritious food, due to which their mental and physical development is not possible and they suffer from many types of diseases. This scheme has been started with the aim of getting those children out of these problems and providing them a good future.
Through this scheme, nutritious lunch is provided free of cost to the children of economically weaker section who study in government schools or government aided schools so that these children can develop mentally and physically and these children can live a healthy life.
Through this scheme, the central government will provide nutritious food free of cost to 11.80 crore children studying in more than 11.20 lakh schools in the country . Along with providing nutritious food, the central government will also appoint nutritionists in schools.
It will be monitored whether the children are benefiting from eating nutritious food or not. Nutritionists will especially monitor the children’s body mass index, hemoglobin level and body weight etc. Children who are not getting the benefits of this scheme will be given the help of a separate doctor so that there is no hindrance in their development.
Through this scheme, gardens will be made in schools where fresh fruits and vegetables will be grown and given to children to eat. This will help children avoid consuming adulterated and pesticide-treated fruits and vegetables.
To run this scheme successfully and provide benefits to the children, a budget of Rs 1.3 lakh crore has been set by the Central Government on this scheme.
Objectives

Budget
Under this scheme, the central government has set a budget of Rs 1.3 lakh crore to provide benefits to 11.80 crore children of the country. Both the central government and the state government will cooperate under this scheme. The central government will contribute Rs 54000 crore for this scheme and will also provide Rs 45000 crore separately to buy grains, rice etc. Under this scheme, the state government will contribute Rs 31000 crore.
To run this scheme successfully in hilly areas, the central government will contribute 90% under this scheme and the state government will contribute only 10% under this scheme. The central government will cooperate with the state governments to run this scheme in all the states of India.
