Karnataka Ration Card is an important document issued by Karnataka government. It enables individuals to purchase necessities such as rice, wheat, sugar and oil at concessionary prices on ration shops. Various government services also use this card as identities and address proofs. Ration cards can be divided into three categories, which are Priority Household (PHH), Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), and Non-Priority Household (NPHH). The first type is low-income households, the second category covers the poorest households, and the third type includes the others, who are not entitled to subsidized benefits.

Only Aadhaar, address and income documents are required. Aadhaar is linked to the ration card so that the distribution of the food item becomes transparent and fair.
