About the PM Internship Yojana scheme
The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India has started the Pradhan Mantri Internship Yojana. This program aims to give one crore young people internship opportunities in top 500 companies over five years.

Benefits of PM Internship Scheme
Monthly stipend to interns: During all 12 months of training, interns would be paid a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000, for which amount the company will remit to each trainee Rs 500 per month through the CSR fund from the company. This would be based on respective company policies regarding attendance and good conduct, etc. Once received by the company, the amount of Rs 4,500 will be transferred to the candidate through direct benefit transfer into the trainee’s Aadhaar-linked bank account. A company can provide more than the Rs 500 on a monthly basis from its own funds if so desired.
- Contingency Expenses: A one-time contingency grant of Rs 6,000 shall be made to each intern by the Government through Direct Benefit Transfer on the date the intern joins the internship location.
- Training Cost : The firm would distribute its CSR funds in training the interns under the scheme, in compliance with the prevailing norms.
- Administrative Costs: The Companies (CSR Policy) Rules, 2014 have provided for an amount equal to up to 5% of CSR expenditure incurred under the said scheme to be booked as administrative costs by the company.
Eligibility criteria for PM Internship Scheme
- Eligibility criteria for candidates : Any youth, who as on the last date of submission of application falls in the age group of 21 to 24 years, and is an Indian national, not employed on a full-time basis, and does not pursue full-time education. Candidates who have enrolled under online or distance learning programs are also eligible to apply.
- Educational Qualification: Aspirants with pass certificates in Higher Secondary school or high school, and ITI, Polytechnic Institute, and BA, BSc, BCom, BCA, BBA, B. Pharma, etc any degree holders are eligible to apply.
- Gross income: Gross income of the applicant- These include the annual incomes of any member in the applicant’s household. The annual income of any member in the applicant’s household should not exceed ₹8 lakh.
- Government job : None of the applicant’s relatives should be in a government job.
- Job status of the applicant: Applicants having full time job cannot avail the benefit of this information.
